One of the most frequent comments I get from people who read my blog is “you make me feel like I’m not the only one!” The only crazy one. The only insecure one. The only unsure one. The only awkward one. The only sarcastic one. The only authentic one.
Whatever only one we’re talking about, I can guarantee you that you’re never ever ever it.
– You’re not the only one if –
:: You sometimes take advantage of daylight savings time and put your kid (or yourself) to bed not long after it gets dark.
:: You wear the same yoga pants, jeans, or bra for a week or two without washing them. Longer for the bra, let’s be honest.
:: Some mornings you have to literally will your body to move itself out of bed when the alarm (or kid) goes off because you’re so tired it hurts.
:: You compare yourself to other people and their (perceived) successes.
:: You often stop and look at your life and feel overwhelmed by how fortunate you really are.
:: You like watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
:: You sometimes forget who you are outsides of “MOMMY!”
:: You’re a homebody who doesn’t get much of modern social interactions (like, why is it taboo nowadays to just call someone on the phone?)
:: You’re a mom who is sometimes just TOUCHED OUT by dinner time.
:: You worry about things. Rational things, but mostly irrational things.
:: You’re a mom, so you know exactly what it feels like to have your heart living and breathing and walking around outside of your body; and it being the most wonderful thing and the scariest thing all at the same time.
:: You eat dessert every night.
:: You say (and mean) things like “I’m not concerned about ‘bouncing back’ after the baby” but you also wouldn’t hate it if it happened.
Okay, friends, add to the conversation! What’s something you would add to “you’re not the only one if _____” ?!
