Virginia Wine Expo!

This weekend I spent some time at the Virginia Wine Expo here in good ol’ Richmond, Virginia!

Over 40 wineries set up shop in the Richmond Convention Center while we (and thousands of fellow thirsty wine lovers) sipped and sampled our way through the venue.

I was expecting to be sardined in the Convention Center, but I was pleasantly surprised, as we never had to wait more than a few minutes for a tasting. In fact, tastings were so readily available, that things got a little “silly” pretty quickly.

Cory and Jamie were more adventurous than I, as I stuck to tasting mostly whites, but I was convinced by several vendors to try “training wheels reds” and I was never disappointed!

I absolutely fell in love with one vendor, though. To start off, the Bluestone Vineyard booth was staffed by the friendliest women. At one point, we went back for seconds, and they remembered us!

Friendliness aside, their Estate Grown Moscato is hands down the best Moscato I’ve ever tasted. It’s peach and honey flavor reminded me of summertime, and I instantly fell in love. Jamie did, too. :)

It was so great seeing so many friends drinking wine in one place! This was my first year at the event, but it certainly won’t be my last!

Let’s chat – When it comes to wine, are you a red or white kinda person?

I love wine expos!! As for wine, it totally just depends on my mood! Some days I’m craving Sauvignon Blanc and others a good glass of Cabernet does the trick :)

I tend to lean more towards white wine but have recently started developing a taste for reds…just depends! Glad you had fun and were able to get silly with friends!

  3. Kate says

Glad you had fun! It’s on my to do list every year, with this being the third year I’ve gone! I won’t share how many bottles came home with me!

  4. Bonnie says

I love them all. And thanks to you and Cory for being such great friends to Jam. Can’t wait to get together again!

Oh I went last year, it was amazing. I would have gone back this year, but had already made out of town plans before they announced the date.
I drink either, and any. I use to only drink reds; but now drink more whites. However, the sweet ones still get me. Too much!!!

Pinot noir is light, and good way to make baby steps into red! Or true “zinfandel”… the non-sweet rose’s… they’re so good, so light, but they’re in the red family! Looks like this was a fun event

Depends… I’m normally a white wine person, and after my sister introduced me to moscato, I swore I’d never drink anything else again! I still like some reds, though. For example, Olive Garden’s roscato is to DIE FOR. I’ll also drink the cheap crappy stuff, like Arbor Mist Blackberry 😉

so bummed i missed out on the wine expo! lord knows i love sampling wine :) i’m a white person myself. used to only drink moscato and (kendall jackson) chardonnay (two opposites, i know) but lately i am obsessed with pinot grigio!

Love, love, love moscato! I had stocked my wine rack, complete w/moscato and a few others, then found out I was pregnant. Now they are taunting me til I can drink again. I miss you, delicious wine! Glad you had a good time.
