The Running Nazi

Tomorrow is the Monument Avenue 10K!

It’s a huge race here in Richmond, and I’m so excited I’m able to run it again this year (last year I had a Saturday class.)

Monument 10K 2010

I’d be lying if I told you that I’ve trained for this race. Quite the contrary, actually. The longest run I’ve done in preparation for this race is 4 miles. Once. On a treadmill.

I’m nervous because Cory is a faster runner than I am, and even when I’ve trained for a race, it’s uncomfortable to keep up with him. I also lovingly refer to him as the Running Nazi, because if I want to stick with him, there is NO WALKING ALLOWED DURING A RACE!

#PROOF

If you’re going to be at the 10K, let me know! I’ll keep an eye out for you – and you do the same! :)

Let’s chat – What are your weekend plans? Racing, relaxing, and everything in between!

  1. Good luck at your race! It’ll be fun and over before you know it!

I’m hoping to go on a bike ride this weekend–soak up the sun!

  2. GOOD LUCK, MY DAHLING! stay on your feet. no falling.

  3. Ahhh, your recent Richmond posts make me happy and remind me of great memories! I only lived there until I was 4 but we used to go back almost every other weekend to visit friends and family :) Our house backed up to the UofR football field and I was petrified of the spider :P

Good luck at your race tomorrow!!!

  4. Oh my goodness my weekend is going to be so random. I’m going to a drag show with a group of girls who I barely know for a bachelorette party. It’s going to be interesting.

  6. Love your pic! Hilarious. My husband is kind of a running Nazi too. When we trained for the half marathon together I had to teach him to pace and he had to teach me how to keep going. :)

Weekend will be great because it is the beginning of Spring Break. I’m not even going anywhere but I am working on my house and lawn.
Good luck with the race. Tell nazi man to settle down. I have done 3 marathons and 2 halfs. Walked all of them. You still reach the finish line. When you walk you get to see the people who came to cheer for you a lot longer.

  8. Good luck! A few years ago I ran a 10K without training. Not my smartest move, but I got through it, and I’m sure you can too!

You must’ve already run, I’m sure you did great! Can’t wait to hear all about it :)

  10. Hope the race went well!!!

  11. OMG that picture of you guys in the mud is hilarious. You look so happy to be there. lol Hope the race went well!

  12. Okay, how tall is Cory? Because my husband is 6’5 and I’m 5’6 and I hate running with him because his stupid stride is like twice as long as mine. Cory seems pretty tall in pics soooo he’s not really running faster than you, actually you’re probs running faster than him you just cant tell because your stride is shorter so yea. That totally makes sense right? Maybe? Ehh whatevs :) Congrats on the race!

YES! You know exactly what I’m talking about! Cory is 6’3 and I’m 5’5 so he’s a wee bit taller than me and his legs are so long! Thanks for the reassurance ;)
