The Luckiest Girl Around

I have the best friends – ever. But I’ll get to that in  a minute.

We spent the weekend in Pennsylvania celebrating a wedding! I loved seeing my cousin and his new wife so happy together. It’s beautiful when someone marries their best friend – and that’s certainly the case for Daniel and Shannon. Congratulations!!

Unfortunately, I’ve had a nasty cold since Thursday night, and it sucked feeling like shit when all I wanted to do was party hardy.

I was not the happiest of campers Sunday morning, and when we got home after our five-hour trip, I was convinced that nothing could possibly make me feel better. (I’m a terrible “sick” person.) I was prepared to spend the rest of my day curled up on the couch, watching TV, and blowing my nose every two minutes.

Plans changed.

I opened the door to my apartment and abruptly stopped. I thought someone had broken into our apartment.

The lights were on and I heard Justin Bieber singing happy birthday. Was someone playing a sick joke? Clearly, I watch too much Criminal Minds.

I was scared for about three seconds until I saw tons of balloons and Emily’s boots laying on the floor.

See all those balloons?! Not only were they fun decorations, but attached to the end of each balloon was a note from different family members and friends. Talk about making a girl feel loved!

It was beyond thoughtful of Emily and Jamie to put all this together for me; to seek out the people most important and influential in my life and ask them to write me a letter. I said to Emily, “This is so amazing – I just love letters! They’re like, my thing.” Her response was along the lines of “Duh, that’s the point.”

I’ve read each letter at least fives times and my heart is bursting with happiness. It’s not every day that you get to read letters from people telling you what they like and love about you. It’s was a perfect, perfect way to end my weekend. Thank you to everyone who was involved – especially Emily and Jamie!

    Seriously an AWESOME surprise!
I’m still wondering why they didn’t ask me to write a letter though? 😉
Well, if they had, it would have said, “Dear Colleen, thank you for always managing to make me laugh, even if I’m having a shitty day. I am still super sad that we have yet to meet in real life, so let’s make than happen sooner than later, mmmkay? Love, Courtney”
    Happy Birthday Weekend, Colleen!

I’ll just have to print that out and add it to the pile! But seriously – I need an NY trip, you need a VA trip, or we’ve GOT to find somethin’ in the middle. SOON! :)

Thanks, Aly! It was a super cute idea, wasn’t it?! My foot is doing a lot better, thanks for asking! It’s funny, I did yoga the other day and it felt so much better afterwards – totally not what I expected, but hey, I’ll take it! :)
