Racing + Relaxing

It’s already Monday and April?! Where the hell is the time going? Wasn’t it January, like, yesterday?

Speaking of time flying, we ran a little race this weekend. 6.2 miles in 58 minutes, baby!

We woke up to cloudy skies and cool weather on Saturday morning. As you can imagine, I was not amused. Had I not had an evening of adult beverages and pizza on my agenda, it would have been so easy to sleep in and skip the race.

Yeah, I said it.

But we had a house full of fellow runners spend the night, so to the race we went! We were able to park at Emily’s office, and walk (in the ran! wah!) a few blocks to the starting line.

We all met our respective race goals, so there were tons of high fives, thumbs-ups, and an overall good feeling after the race. You know, until my achilles started revolting against me. 

Our friends Bobby and Whitney drove down from NOVA and met us at the finish line! We spent their visit doing what we do best: relaxing, enjoying Skinnygirl margs, and Bottoms Up pizza.


Let’s chat – What does your favorite pizza look like? Lots of cheese, thick crust, and tons of veggies. It’s all about balance, right? ;)

  2. Skinny girl drinks and pizza were enjoyed on my Saturday night as well! Have you tried the white cranberry cosmos?? I may have polished off the bottle….

  3. I like a lot of sauce, mushrooms and banana peppers! I also enjoyed pizza on Saturday!

    My favorite pizza has lots of sauce, just a little cheese, and TONS of veggies – broccoli, spinach, sauteed onions, roasted red peppers, artichokes…mmmm, now I want pizza. Thanks ;)

  6. Did you enjoy Bottoms Up?? I haven’t been there in awhile, but I remember liking it!

    It was an ugly morning for the race, but I had so much fun running it! It’s so motivating with all the people cheering!

    No…the pizza place was not like a “glorified pizza hut.” Good choice!

  10. Tons of veggies and no cheese [stomach can't have it] but add a sprinkle of parm after it’s all cooked! I’ve been wanting to try Naked Pizza- a new pizza joint in the area :)

    Gah, I need to pick-up a bottle of Skinnygirl, especially since I started watching Bethenny again ;)

  12. One of my favorites that I don’t have as often as I like is pineapple and ham! I made this the other day on a whole wheat pita and loved my life. :)
