I’ve been blogging for over 5 years. During that time, my dedication to the blog has admittedly waxed and waned; I’ve gone from obsessing over numbers to toying with the idea of throwing in the towel and everything in between. I’m currently in the season of considering my blog to be more than hobby, and as such, I’ve found the one thing you need to do to improve your blog.
Hire Katy Widrick.
(This is not a sponsored post and I received nothing for free, discounted, etc. Katy has no idea I’m even writing this.)
Last night I had a 60-minute consultation with her, and my mind is essentially blown. She completely changed the way I understand blogging, SEO, and content marketing, and I feel as though I’ve discovered a whole new world.
Truth be told, I do very little besides writing my blog posts and slapping them on Facebook. Like I told Katy, I’m constantly amazed by the fact that people actually read this blog, because I have no idea what I’m doing. Prior to talking with Katy, I knew nothing about SEO, which as a blogger, is terribly embarrassing to admit.
If Katy was judging me, she did a phenomenal job at hiding it. She made me feel comfortable, understood, and encouraged.
I’m normally skeptical of consultations that you have to pay for, as I’m always worried that I’m essentially buying a sales pitch. Nothing could have been further from reality with Katy. (In passing, she said something along the lines of “it’s my goal to work myself out of job with my clients” and I absolutely believe her sincerity.)
After our 60-minute conversation (that flew by) I walked away with a clear understanding of what I need to do in order to see the specific results I’m looking for, as well as tangible resources to help get me there. The next morning, she sent me a follow up email outlining our conversation, full of additional links and resources, which was extremely helpful!
I’m not going to share any of my specific takeaways of Katy’s wisdom, because I genuinely believe that if you’re a blogger -new, old, big, or small – and you take it seriously, it’s worth hiring her for even that one-hour consultation. It’s affordable (seriously) and incredibly worth it.
