If the Schedule Calls for it

When I rolled over in bed this morning, I saw the sun peaking out from behind the clouds.

My first thought: What is that? (In case you didn’t know – it rains every day in Northern Virginia.)

My second thought: Wow, self, you slept in real late. It must be at least 10 o’clock.

I rolled over and checked the time on my phone – 7:45

My third thought: Gobacktosleep! Gobacktosleep!

I don’t know about you, but once I’m up – I’m up. There’s no ‘rolling back over for a few hours’ in my world. I did procrastinate actually getting out of bed for about ten minutes, and all the while I was debating the gym.

The training schedule called for 40 minutes of cross today.

Eff the schedule! Eff the man! Is what I thought to myself.

Five minutes later I was in my gym clothes and out the door. (I really don’t like breaking the rules.)

At the gym and completed a mini upper body workout and 20 minutes of HIIT on the treadmills.

Upper body (each move x 2)

The HIIT intervals on the treadmill alternated between one minute at 3.5 and 2 minutes at 7.5 Nothing crazy, but it got my heart pumping. I wasn’t trying to go all out, as Cory and I have a six mile run tomorrow. I’m shaking in my boots sneakers.

When I got home, these three ingredients helped make the perfect Saturday breakfast.

Two Van’s waffles topped with PB & Co’s White Chocolate Wonderful, a little bit of syrup and banana slices makes for one filling and delicious breakfast!

Now I have a fully belly and I’m ready to start tackling my weekend to-do list! Enjoy your Saturday!

    Those waffles looks like little gifts from God!!! I am seriously contemplating going BACK out to the store just to buy the ingredients. Alas, I am far too lazy so cereal it is. But, when I have the necessary ingredients and the time/will to cook breakfast on the weekends, my favorite is French Toast topped with Apple Butter :) Pretty much ANYTHING with Apple Butter is a winner in my book.

    I much prefer to wake up and head out for a workout to get it over with. Of course, I did not do that today, so now I need to wait for my Mexican breakfast to settle before I can go for a run. Not smart.

    I usually have my rest day on Sunday’s so no workout at all for me that day! Saturday’s I usually relax, have breakfast, coffee, then head over to the gym around 10.

    That breakfast looks delicious! A fancy morning for me would usually include something similar to that, but swap the waffle for a cinnamon raisin or whole wheat bagel. Normally, I just opt for the simple bowl of cheerios, banana, and small glass of OJ. Since nursing school started I don’t have much time for a typical work out. I consider my fifteen minute power-walk x4 (4 miles total, I think…) a day to be sufficient. I love to swim laps if I can take an hour out of the day for it! :)

    What is up with this NOVA weather? At first, it was a nice change of pace compared to hot and humid, but now it’s just annoying. I like to get my workouts OVER WITH asap! I dread them. If I save them to the end of the day and I can’t relax. Fave weekend breakfast? Eggs overeasy with a croissant, cheese and BACON :)
