Minus the end of semester funk – the span between Thanksgiving and New Years really is the best time of the year. This is the time of year when traditions and holiday comforts are in full force.
Holiday Parties Let’s be honest – who doesn’t love holiday parties? Seasonal drinks, yummy foods and a reason to get dressed up.
Being at home My parents don’t live far away at all, but there’s something special about being home around the holidays. We take time to slow down and watch movies, decorate and do silly things like spending hours working on a puzzle in our PJs.
Christmas Eve at my Grandma’s house it a big-freakin’-deal in my life. My mom’s entire side of the family comes from near and far to spend that evening together. We eat and drink and laugh too loudly. We even act a little stupid and plays games. (We play our own Minute to Win It (ever seen the show?) games. Even the older ladies join in on the fun – and that’s what makes it so wonderful.)
Semi-New Traditions are a fun part of starting a life with someone. Cory and I have our own special-to-us traditions that we’ve created over the years, and one of my favorites is going to see ICE! at National Harbor. Have you heard of ICE!? It’s a huge venue that’s nine degrees on the inside and everything is made out of…you guessed it…ice
ICE! 2009
Thinking about all this makes my heart happy.
What do you love about this time of year?

I really wanna check out ICE! One of my good girlfriends and her family have gone for the past couple of years and say it’s awesome!
I love that picture of you and Cory, you look smoking hot girl!
Nothing better than spending the holidays with everyone you love
What do I love? EvErYtHiNg! I like not being judged for watching children’s movies, eating cookies, drinking celebration ales, and excessive decorating <– that includes decorating myself for the yearly tacky sweater party.
Oh I LOVE ICE!!! My fiance and I go every year to the one at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. It is so much fun and I am soooo impressed with what they can do with ice!! I can’t wait to go this year! Have a wonderful holiday!
I love all the decorating! I now live in the Chicago area (I’m from San Francisco) so we get snow which is something I’m not used to. It is so much fun to have a winter and holiday season that is cold and full of snow! I am really enjoying watching the snow fall and getting all bundled up to go and get our Christmas tree from the tree farm when it is snowing! I love the food, the smells and being around my family! It is a wonderful time of year!
