Hello from Baltimore!

Hello from Baltimore!

I’m spending some time in Baltimore this week for a work conference and I’m super thrilled! How fun is it to be excited about work? :)

Today, I’ve had the pleasure of attending a Blogging Bootcamp presented by Michael Klaybor and Marina London – two social media gurus who are “early adopters” of social media in relation to the fields of mental health and employee assistance.

I’m so interested in today’s session because I’m learning about how to utilize blogging and Twitter from a professional standpoint – you know, like, for an employer.

There’s a great deal of strategizing and planning that go into Tweeting and blogging for a company (i.e. not what I do) and I’m soaking it all up like a social media sponge.

We’ve finished the blogging portion and now we’re on to Twitter! I’ll catch you guys later!

Let’s chat – Does your employer utilize social media?

Our students we found respond better to social media than emails so we have a blog, a twitter, a facebook, and now pinterest!

Enjoy and share tips! My company just started a Twitter account this summer, mostly to promote our show, and it’s been… Interesting? I had the “pleasure” of finding all of our associated companies and following them and filtering out the spammers- lovely, huh?!

I work for a 911 center, we just started using Twitter & Facebook. We use it to announce road closures, public safety issues, and special announcements that the public should be away of.
It is a great tool but because of the nature of the business we have a lot of restrictions and rules which is a good thing.

My employer (a large regional hospital) definitely does NOT use social media — but I think that they should really reach into the realm a little more where fundraisers and awareness are concerned.
I can only believe how much you’re learning!! I would love to be a fly on the wall (or an active participant, obviously) and listen in!

You’re telling me! From the treadmill, I have a perfect view of Camden Yards! Before Washington got the Nationals, my family rooted for the O’s :)
