Coffee Fix – Fo’ Cheap

Hello, my loves! I was a little frazzled this morning and I didn’t get around to conjuring up a post. This caused some anxiety for sure. I like to post and I like to keep a schedule. I’m sure if I took a few minutes I could have spit something out about my morning, but would it would have been empty, so it just didn’t happen.

What else didn’t happen? A run. I had every intention of going on one, too. When my alarm went off at 5:00, I realized I didn’t feel safe running alone in the dark. Is that stupid? Probably. What would be more stupid is the scenario that I did go running, despite my fear, and got mugged.

Maybe I should change this blog to The Big Wimp Diaries.

We won’t vote on that.

New Find

I love coffee, but I’m not a coffee snob. I don’t know the difference between a light or dark roast. It don’t care if the coffee beans came from Columbia or down the street. It matters not if it’s shee-shee-foo-foo Starbucks or cheap instant coffee.

I don’t need coffee in the mornings, but I like it. That said, I found myself in a slight predicament. I don’t have a coffee maker at the moment, and there’s no way in hell I’m shelling out $3 every morning for a cup ‘o Joe. You know what I mean? But this was $1.50 for six cups of tasty coffee.

So when I stumbled across Nescafe Taster’s Choice last week, I didn’t think twice before tossing it in my grocery cart (I can tend to be an impulse grocery shopper…)

I just pour this baby into some hot water (with a splash of skim) and I’ve got my office coffee fix in seconds.

I was never a sorority fanatic, but I love my ADPi tumbler that Emily gave me.

Although I drink out of this every morning, I feel like a huge tool when I’m filling ‘er up at the office water cooler alongside my 50-year-old co-workers. To most people, Greek letters = slutty party girl. I stifle the urge to ask them if they want to try and do keg stands with the water cooler, but I’m new here. When I’m new anywhere – people tend to misunderstand my sense of humor.

I’ll just smile and keep my mouth shut.

One More Thing

Pandora gets me through the day. Anyone else with me on that statement? Today I had on the 90s Pop channel and it was phenomenal.

When NSYNC’s Bye, Bye, Bye came on I was thisclose to jumping up and down and doing the little jig every time the chorus played.

But like I said, I’m still new at the office ;)

Let’s chat –

Are you a coffee snob?

If you’re a coffee drinker, how many cups do you have everyday? Since it doesn’t do anything for me (i.e. wake me up) I just stick to one cup.

Pandora fans? Give me some good channel ideas!

  1. I dont mind coffee desserts, but I like tea betta. Haha I laughed really hard at the thought of 50 year olds doing keg stands with the water jug :)

  2. Definitely not a coffee snob. I’ll drink any coffee. Dark, light, instant, espresso. I am an equal-opportunist coffee drinker.

I drink….A LOT of coffee every day. I’m almost embarrassed to admit…4-5 cups. Oy

Pandora is my life saver too! I could never get through a day in NYC without it. Right now, I’m feeling the country stations: Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts. BUT, check out the Boyz II Men station. That’ll bring back the ol memories ;-)

adore this- and actually i’m not a HUGE coffee snob but i do tend to enjoy it when i can afford it ;) xo ps love the mug!

  4. Rachel Torgesen says:

I never used to care what coffee I drank, caffeine is caffeine but after working in a coffee shop for 2 years I became a coffee snob. Now I can’t stand the taste of folgers or anything less than a really good cup of dark roast coffee. I usually have 3 or 4 cups a day!! after that I switch over to decaf tea. And I would love to see a bunch of 50 yr olds doing a water cooler keg stand haha

  5. Meg says:

Any kind of coffee is coffee is coffee is coffee. Agreed. Bonus points if it’s cheap ;)

Pandora stations – umm well I’d usually say Nsync and O Town…BUT since you’ve prettymuch got that covered…Christmas music always makes me happy. The Beach Boys. DO IT.

  6. Yummmmmmmm coffee! I love coffee, however I am not a snob. Like you, I could care less where it comes from or what is specific about it!
I splurge on a coffee once a month or two, but since I have a Keurig I am a bit spoiled!

Pandora is great! I listen to anything, so I do not really have any good channel for you. I quick mix all the time. Sorry :-/

  7. Not a coffee snob for sure! We got a Keurig machine for Christmas and I stock up on K-Cups at Costco! Turns into 50 cents a cup! I’ll take it! I did however just purchase the cocnut syrup from Starbucks because I love some flavour in my coffees! It makes them feel like a dessert! I drink too much coffee! I don’t feel bad about it at all :) !

  8. I’m so not a coffee snob.. and I love those instant coffee packets. I’ve stolen 6 or 10 or 73 from my parents’ pantry on a few occasions.

and I’m loving the dual 90′s music love we’re having this week. ;) twinkies!

  9. Pandora? Err… I guess I must be a little out of the loop, because I have NO idea what that is. I’m completely down for any/all 90′s pop music though – those were some fantastic years!

And I’m not sure that I’d call myself a coffee snob, but I can definitely tell the difference between the good stuff and the cheap stuff. But, I like it all anyways :D I’m like you in that I don’t really need to have a cup in the morning, but it’s something I love to do anyways… I try to limit myself to one a day, though… and it’s something I always look forward to :D

  10. I have worked at a coffee shop for about 4 years now so I think I have learned how a good cup of coffee tastes! :P But I love all kinds of coffee.. weird that I used to think it tasted like ShitAke before I was a barista (weird job title, ey?) But now I try to limit myself to 2 cups a day and by two cups I mean two.. 20 oz. cups.

Those instant coffee packets are awesome in smoothies or make-your-own frappes!

The Adele radio station is really great if your working or pluggin’ away on a paper! The Christina Aguilera Christmas music station is also really good too :)

  11. Brittany says:

I need to send you some coffee from Louisiana– i know you’d love it!

  12. OMG I totally jammed to Bye Bye Bye when I was working out :) LOVE it! I’m definitely not a coffee snob, but I love to have a cup every morning!

  13. You totally crack me up. Big Wimp Diaries? Love it – you should make it look like “diary of a wimpy kid” book. And now i”m going to look like the loser girl who knows all about children’s books.

I’m afraid to run by myself in the dark too.

  14. Marissa says:

I used to drink coffee all the time, but now that I seem to suddenly be hypersensitive to every little thing I put in my body, I had to stop. Makes me sad… I really miss the taste! Hopefully I can drink it again this winter; I don’t think I’ll live through the cold without it!

lol, I had a love affair with NSYNC in elementary school.

  15. Danielle says:

I can’t help it, I still love NSYNC. Even though I was in college (in my third year of college, mind you) I went to see them in concert. What can I say, I have a thing for boy bands :)

  16. I don’t know if I’d call myself a coffee snob, but I definitely need to have a cup or two almost every day! It doesn’t really give me that jolt many people talk about, but I just like how it warms me up. And I love sipping on coffee while checking my email. :)

  17. Dorsa says:

The H mart in Annandale has this instant coffee that has creamer already in it.. omg Korean coffee is the BEST instant coffee. I am a coffee snob, we have a programmable coffee maker that grinds the beans every morning. I will NOT go to Starsmucks.. ew. they burn their coffee.

  18. Rach says:

Not a coffee snob since I don’t drink it (no caffeine). When I used to drink it, I really didn’t care much as long as it had lots of milk and sweetener in it. ;)

We totally listen to Pandora at work. Girl, I need to check out the 90s station and rock out to N’sync. I don’t think I would’ve been able to contain myself if Bye Bye Bye came on, haha!

  19. I love coffee but I love all kinds. I don’t know dark or light roast either or any of that jazz. I just know what freakin tastes good ha. ;)

  20. :O coffee . This last semester , I literally spent drinking coffee , I mean , I used to love coffee before , but I really got hooked on it and then I started to drink so much that when I googled side-effects of caffeine I was more than a little freaked out :O .

Pandora doesn’t work outside the US but there’s this awesome site called 8tracks which has millions of user made playlists for just about any genre and artist . Brilliant site , do check it out.

  21. OMG – ever since I’ve been in Thailand all I’ve had is instant coffee…and I am in fact a coffee snob haha…needless to say I am soooo excited to come home and hear my coffee actually brewing as I wake up! It’s the little things haha :)

  22. I’ve just recently gotten into coffee so I’m in no way a snob! I don’t find that it wakes me up, but I like a cup in the morning, or a flavoured latte as a treat :)

  23. I’m definitely a coffee snob and am loyal to Starbucks. It’s an expensive habit but oh so delicious.

  24. Sam says:

I quit coffee totally for a while. Then homemade iced coffee’s came into my life and I think I am re-addicted! ruh-oh! I used to love pandora but I think it stopped working in Canada. I switched to jango recently and it’s pretty awesome :) But I think pandora is better!

  25. kristen says:

Im not a coffee drinker, but just got into pandora!
I like all types of music, but im on a country kick right now. And I went to a wedding were they played Nsync BYE BYE BYE. All the boys danced (and knew some moves to go with it) haha
