Simone France Travel Kit (Give Away!) CLOSED

Guys. I’m really excited about today’s post.

A while back, I was sent some Simone France products – the “French Collection” to be exact – and I fell in love almost instantly. Which I so eloquently (read: not really) shared in a video blog.

After I ran out of the products that were sent to me, I went ahead a spent my OWN MONEY on the stuff, because I realized I could not live without them.

I kid you not – these products have changed my life. I don’t have naturally great skin. I get gross breakouts and I have dark spots on my face where old zits once ruined my days.

Real attractive, I know.

But since using Simone France products, I don’t wear face make-up. Like, ever.

Clearly not a model, but I do feel confident about my skin!

So you can imagine how freaking excited I was when I got the news that Simone France wanted to partner with me to help spread the word about these fantastic products.

Clearly I was quite giddy when my first package arrived, just in time for my weekend summer trips.

Yes, the perfect little Simone France Travel Kit.

The kit includes the following travel-sized products:

  • The Sandwich morning cleansing routine I use this every day. Life changer.
  • Touch and Glow evening cleaning routine I use this every night. Removes dirt and oil without over-drying
  • Instant Radiance exfoliating treatment I use this once or twice a week. I hate to be redundant, but it really does make your skin instantly radiant.
  • Treatment mask for your skin type I have oily skin, so I use the French Clay Mask immediately following the Instant Radiance treatment, and it works wonders.
  • Travel soap dish Crucial. Beforehand, I was using a ziplock baggy for my soap when I traveled and it was a fucking mess.

It’s perfect, because having to lug around a normal-sized skin care routine takes up a good deal of space. With this travel kit, it’s small, all in one place, and I can grab and go!

The thing is, I’m not just bragging about having cool stuff. Lucky for YOU, the generous people at Simone France happen to LOVE give aways. So every time I get to try a new product, you get the chance to as well!

Fun right?!

CLOSED: To enter to win a Simone France Travel Kit for YOUR skin type, simply leave a comment telling me what kind of skin you have (oily, dry, normal, adult acne, Rosacea, etc.)

For an additional (ie: NOT mandatory) entry: Tweet about this give away and leave a comment telling me you did so! Just be sure to include @LunchboxDiaries, @Simone_France, and a link back here!

Good luck! I’ll pick a winner on Thursday Friday!

My Mom, the Champion Sportswear Fan

All my life, my mom has been this little petite woman with a slight aversion to fitness.

When I first told her that I was planning to run a half marathon, her response was not filled with pride and encouragement; no, it was “Well that sounds awful. I wouldn’t even want to drive 13 miles.”

When we’re driving and see someone running she says things like, “I wonder who’s chasing that poor man.”

I spent years asking her to workout with me, and she every time, she would literally laugh in my face.

But then out of nowhere, my mom decided that she was going to change her ways. When she asked me if I could show her “how the gym works” I felt dazed an confused.

Is this a joke? Are you making fun of me?

No, she insisted it was, in fact, real life.  Real life it was, my friends. My mom is now something of a gym rat. She walks on the treadmill and watches Ellen. She does “the weights.” Sometimes, both in the same day.

She’s basically doing the damn thing and I could not be more proud of her. So when Champion offered to send Kate some cute workout gear for Mother’s Day, I was stoked.

She received the (surprise) package and called me saying, I’ve got something here for The Lunchbox Diaries. Why the hell did they send it here?

No, sweet mother, it’s a gift for you.

REALLY?!?!? HOW WONDERFUL!!

She’s the cutest. My mom adores these clothes, mainly because she’s a diva and won’t go to the gym without looking cute. And cute she looks, folks!

Champion gear makes her feel confident about stepping into the gym, and for that I couldn’t be more thankful.

Kate says the clothes fit “just right” and she enjoys how she doesn’t feel bogged down by a “bulky workout clothes.” If you’re interested in copying Kate’s swag (ha) check out these shorts, shirts, and jackets.

They’re mom AND daughter approved ;)

Chapstick Giveaway!

We all have our simple addictions necessities, right?

Right.

That means you can’t judge me when I tell you that I’m the kind of person who has a tube of Chapstick (or two) in every purse, clutch, and backpack that I own.

It’s a comfort thing, okay? ;)

So you can imagine how excited I was when a little package ended up on my doorstep. Not one, but two, tubes of Chapstick. It was Christmas come early, folks!

Tube One – ChapStick® Raspberry Crème: This flavor is ahhmazing. It’s perfectly fruity, and it’s whopping 10 moisturizing ingredients leave my lips feeling super soft. I shy away from lipstick, so I love that the Raspberry Creme adds a tint of color. I apply it approximately 57 times a day.

Tube Two - ChapStick® Sport Ready: This tube was designed with the gym-goer in mind. The flavor is subtle, and in my opinion, slightly banana-y. I love the clip top, as it allows me to take my Chapstick with me even when I don’t have room. I snap it on my keys when I’m headed to the gym, and I snap it on my clutch when I’m headed out for the evening.

Okay, okay. I’m done bragging.

It’s time to share :)

One lucky reader will win a fun little Chapstick package! You’ll get your hands on the Raspberry Creme, the Chapstick Sports Ready, a Chapstick beach towel and a cute Chapstick makeup bag!

EDIT: Contest Closed. Winner is #59: Sienna! Sienna, please email me your shipping info to lunchboxdiaries[at]gmail[dot]com

To enter, simply leave a comment saying something nice. That’s right, any positive comment you can think of :)

I’ll pick a winner this Monday, October 29th!

*Chapstick provided me with the Raspberry Creme, Sports Ready, beach towel and make up bag. All opinions are my own.

Dove Intensive Hair Repair (Coupon + Give Away!)

There are few things in life that I buy brand name, rather than the generic brand.

Jeans.

Tampons.

Hair conditioner.

Breathe easy, my friend. Today, we’re talking about hair conditioner.

Yes, this is a sponsored post. No, I am not a new Dove user. Dove has been receiving fragments of my paychecks for years now, so when I was offered to review Dove’s Intensive Repair Conditioner, it was a no brainer.

The reason I turn to Dove for hair help is simple: I need a conditioner that will get the job done. I’ve never colored my hair, but it sure has felt the heat. I hate to admit this – but I blow dry my hair e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y. Obviously, I need a conditioner that helps repair the daily damage.

I’ve had bad experiences in the past when thick conditioner = limp, lifeless hair, but that’s not the case (ever) with Dove. The Intensive Repair Conditioner is thick and creamy, but it leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny.

Dove wins in my book, and their products are absolutely worth every penny. That said – Dove is giving you the chance to save a few pennies.

Veggies Can Be Fun?

This post is sponsored by Country Crock. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

——————-

As some of you can recall, I’m currently trying to pull myself out of my crappy-eating rut. And because honesty is the name of the game here at The Lunchbox Diaries, I’ve gotta tell ya: sometimes Cory and I aren’t crazy about veggies.

So when I had the opportunity to look over the Clare Crespo Cookbook (which you can download for free, by the way) I was all for it. Making veggies fun? I’ll try it!

I may be a 24-year-old newlywed, but Cory and I are still kids at heart. So when I told him we were having corn on the cob for dinner his reaction was a “meh” on the zero to awesome scale.

But when he came home to find my attempt at a rocket ship corn on the cob, he was pretty excited.

After looking over Clare’s cookbook, I wanted to raid the produce section during my weekly shopping trip. The cookbook is chock-full of fun, clever recipes that kids from 5 – 52 are sure to get a kick out of.

I’ve been eating Country Crock since..uh..forever. It’s always been a staple at the dinner table because it’s, well, freakin’ good. I always want to be the first person to use a new tub of Country Crock. You know, while it’s still perfect and has the swirl in the middle?

I should probably grow up at some point… ;)

But seriously, now that I am grown up and consider things like fat and calories, I’m pumped to know that Country Crock still comes out on top. It’s RD approved and has 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter. Can I get a hell yeah?!

Are you looking for quick and simple tips and recipes to make serving veggies more fun? Download the free Clare Crespo Cookbook here for fun and whimsical recipes your family is sure to love!

I also snagged a few tips and recipes from Country Crock Chronicle.  And if you’re a social media junkie like myself, you can find Country Crock on Facebook and Twitter.

Let’s chat – What’s your favorite veggie? I could eat red bell peppers until the cows come home.

Cake Pop Giveaway!

Last week, some of you noticed the outstandingly adorable cake pops that the lovely ladies at Alexandria Cake Pop Co. sent me.

personalized blog cake pops?! yes, please!

Just so you know, 12 cake pops were gone in two days (well, three because I promised Jamie I’d save her one.) Emily came over that night to claim hers. I ate two right out of the box. The yellow cake was to die for. Perfectly sweet, insanely moist, and perfectly portioned. Three bites of heaven and I was left completely satisfied.

beach themed!

I found out about Alexandria Cake Pop Co. because one of the co-owners, Emily Baird, I went to grade school and college together. I had been seeing her post on Facebook about her new company, and I was totally amazed.

sushi!

I got in touch with Emily to find out more about the company that she and Tamara Wilson started. Come to find out, they both made the gutsy decision to quit their jobs in December and dedicate themselves to their new company.

most requested – color themed!

I was also presently surprised that these girls aren’t just pretty bakers. Both girls come from military families, and Alexandria Cake Pop Co. donates 5% of all their proceeds to Operation Second Chance, an organization that serves wounded, injured, and ill combat veterans.

easter!

Well, Emily and Tamara are nice enough to spread some springtime wealth to one lucky reader! One reader will be mailed one dozen cake pops! Head over to Alexandria Cake Pop Co. and look at all the flavors they offer.

**To enter – simply leave a comment telling me what flavor you’d like your lucky dozen to be.** I’ll randomly pick a winner on Thursday morning!

Ch-ch-ch-chia Overload! (Give Away!)

Remember how I told you that we’re up and moving in a matter of weeks? That process involves packing up all of newly unpacked apartment, and getting rid of excess stuff we’ve accumulated during our six months of marriage.

I’m bad at getting rid of things because I think that as soon as I toss it/give it away I’ll need it 48 hours later. You know what I mean?

Well, I’ve been hoarding The Chia Company chia seeds for a while now.

The company sent me a bunch of chia and I’ve been using it every day since. In my oats. My smoothies. My muffin, cookie, and casserole recipes. Everything.

Why do I like chia so much?

It’s a SUPER super food:  Chia is the richest plant based source of Omega 3, dietary fibre, protein and antioxidants. (source)

source

It does a body good: Chia is a great food for my diet because it helps increase my energy level, it keeps me full longer which helps me maintain a healthy weight, and keeps my heart healthy.

I’m vain: Believe it or not, because chia contains tons of Omega 6, it helps keep my skin healthy – and it also slows the process of aging. Chia is also loaded with protein, which helps keep my hair healthy!

Even though it’s super great, you can see I have a surplus on my hands. Every time Cory walks into our pantry he yells an obscenity followed by “chia!!”

Clearly he does not appreciate this super food.

Help me get rid of some of it. I want to send two bags to THREE readers just leave a comment telling me how you like (or would like) using chia! I’ll pick the winners on Friday morning!!

**EDIT TO ADD: Here are the chia winners!! Congrats ladies! Email me your shipping info by Sunday to lunchboxdiaries@gmail.com

Junk Foods and Junk Moods (Give Away!)

Here’s something you might not know about  me: I’m an emotional eater.

If something happy happens, I celebrate with food. If something stressful happens, I comfort myself with food. I also show my love through food – if I love ya, I’ll bake ya something. As you can imagine, with yesterday’s big news, I’ve been stuffing my face with less-than-healthy foods for the past few weeks.

I don’t care what you say – bread makes me feel better when things are stressful. And so do cake-y things: pancakes, cupcakes, cake batter fro-yo…

It happens, okay? But in between weeping over a breadstick and stressing out with a mini cupcake in hand, I really found myself being able to relate to Junk Foods and Junk Moods by Lindsey Smith.

In the book, Lindsey discusses her own journey with emotional eating and how one powerful interaction with a stranger transformed her perspective on foods and moods. I found her writing style and stories to be completely relatable, which is super important to me when I read about health and fitness. If you haven’t been there – don’t try to give me any of your advice. You know?

Lindsey also breaks up the reading by adding “Get Moving” and “Keep Going” activities throughout the book. It makes the reading experience a reflective one, and as a counselor-in-training, I’m all about some self reflection ;)

I greatly appreciated the book because Lindsey hones in on finding the void and/or emotions behind emotional eating, and that is SO IMPORTANT! Often times with “diet books,” the author tells you what to eat and how to workout, but emotions are neglected.

Emotions and thoughts fuel our behavior, and if we fuel ourselves with negative emotions, we’ll behave in destructive ways. It’s that simple!

Because I personally got so much from Lindsey’s book, I want to share a copy with one lucky reader. :)

Rather than leaving tons of comments, liking people on facebook and following so-and-so on Twitter, just simply tweet me about wanting the book, and leave a comment telling me to look out for it.  I’ll randomly pick a winner tomorrow morning!

Sparkly Soul Give Away!

Who out there has heard of Sparkly Soul headbands? Who out there has been itching to get their hands on one? I know that I had been, and when Sparkly Soul offered to send me some headbands to try out, I was stoked.

Stoked, yet skeptical.

You see, headbands are something I usually forego because, like earbud headphones, they always seem to fall out of place as soon as I move.

Not these suckers. I first tested my wide band with a treadmill run – and after a sweaty 40 minutes, it hadn’t moved at all.

Not the most flattering, but I had just stepped off the ‘mill.

After my first experience wearing one, I was hooked. I wear one almost every day when I get home from work, put on my comfy clothes and pull my hair back. Cory has even said “I really like those headbands” more than once. You gotta love a guy who likes his girl to sparkle :)

I sported my thin gold band this morning for a strength workout, and it even stayed in place when I was doing ab work and fussing with my hands at the back of my head.

Focused on making sure the elliptical girl didn’t think I was taking a picture of her.

Post workout. 5:45 AM. Silly tired.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to brag about my good fortune of owning two sparkly headbands. You know me better than that :)

Sparkly Soul is super generous and wants to spread the sparkle to YOU! One lucky lady (or gent?) will win TWO headbands – one wide and one thin – in any colors you choose. Trust me you REALLY want to own these headbands.

**THIS GIVE AWAY IS NOW CLOSED

There are a few ways you can enter. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each entry. I’ll pick a winner on Friday morning!
