Burn

Happy Monday, my friends! I appreciate Mondays for the fact that they get me back on schedule – Back to the weekday grind of early workouts, dinners at home, and a 10PM bedtime ;)

This weekend we headed up to Northern Virginia to surprise our friend Bobby for his twenty-something birthday! His girlfriend, Whitney, wins Girlfriend of the Year and made plans weeks in advance for us to come visit and spend the afternoon at a National’s game.

While baseball isn’t something I’d normally watch on TV, there is something great about being at the ball park. People watching is prime, hotdogs are a necessity, and usually a little sun on the shoulders is nice.

Oh yeah, and the actual baseball game part can be fun, too ;)

The thing is – Saturday was 110 degrees and we were sitting in left field with the sun beating down on us. Long gone was the desire to watch people or eat hotdogs. I could only think of survival.

Which, of course, I found inside at the bar.

Cory and Bobby were troopers, Whitney withstood the heat longer than I could, and I was a diva.

When my underwear becomes a sweat sponge, all bets of faking it are off. Thank GOD I have good friends and a good husband who like me even when I’m not smiling.

For an example of the sheer heat that we were exposed to: As we got out of our car and started walking towards the stadium, within minutes, I said to Cory, Oh my gosh, oh my gosh – something’s wrong. My FEET are BURNING!

I think I’ll wear rubber flip flops next time it’s as hot as hell outside – thin leather ones are apparently quite dangerous! ;)

Let’s chat – What was the best part of your weekend? It was so great to be able to see Bobby and Whitney!

Baseball games are the best, but not when it is over 100 degrees! My favorite part of the weekend was helping my mom cook and prepare for my sisters birthday party and celebrating a best friends birthday! Birthday filled weekends are exhausting but so fun. Ps I am so with ya on the “10 PM bedtime” its seriously a must. Hope your feet feel better!

  2. Ouch! I’m with you–I can’t stand heat that turns your clothes into a wet mess. Do you have a lot of humidity or is it just really hot?

Your friend’s dress is the cutest!

Best part of the weekend = hiking along the Mississippi River!

  3. The heat was probably intensified whenever Bryce Harper was on the field. He makes everything hotter at Nats Stadium. LOVE HIM. Please ignore the face that he’s 19 and I’m 25.

    Hope your tootsies feel better!

  4. Good for you for even making it to the game! I have friends that had tickets to go on Saturday but didn’t because of the heat. You’re a trooper!

Best part of my weekend was spending the whole day with my little sister and girlfriend yesterday! I thought I’d only see them for brunch so it was nice to hang out for a while.

  5. That’s crazy that your feet burned through your flip flops, ouch!

  6. best part of my weekend was drinking wine on my friends rooftop!

  7. Ouch!!!! I’m with you on baseball. I never watch it on TV, but I love going to games!

  8. Ouch! That’s horrible! I burn my finger all the time checking to see if the sweet potatoes are done, it’s my own fault, but I keep doing it and I don’t think I have fingerprints anymore.

Girlfriend of the year is right…I love her like…120 out of 100! For real though thank you so much for coming up. It was so great to see you two again. Take care of those feet!

  10. I went to the water park with my camp kids last week, and walking on the cement was so painful! I have the blisters to prove it. I’m kind of over the 100 degree weather.

Sounds like such a fun weekend, minus the heat. I’m with ya on sweat sponge ;) We had a quiet weekend in. It was good :) ) I heard on the news that the pavement on an airport runway started to melt and caused a faulty landing. How insane is that?!

Got to see the Blue Angels fly at the airshow during my nephew’s birthday party and went to Kings Island with my hubby & boys the next day with ice cream on the way home :) It was a good- but hot- weekend.
